Project Ninja Panda Taco

Hello, neglected blog. I roust you from your slumber to tell you about an awesome game I got to play this week.

PROJECT NINJA PANDA TACO

So, Project Ninja Panda Taco (written by Jennifer Steen of Jennisodes fame) is this crazy storytelling game where you alternate between playing an evil mastermind, determined to take over the world… or a minion trying to collect some cool stuff for their toolbelt (and maybe – JUST MAYBE – become a mastermind yourself someday!).

The game is kind of like The Incredibles meets Do: Pilgrims of the Flying Temple with heaping helpings of Despicable Me and Phineas and Ferb. It’s collaborate storytelling that revolves around randomly chosen words used to craft elaborate plans for world domination. As you detail your zany plan to TAKE OVER THE WORLD, you also strive to convince the minions to help you by making outrageous promises to add to their minion arsenal.

Of course, one of the other masterminds at the table is going to try to thwart your plan… which is why you have to work so hard to win over the minions! If they prefer your reward, they’ll give you help (read: bonuses) on your rolls.

Mechanics are simple enough for children to understand (I’d wager most kids 8 or older could grasp it easily). Name  your mastermind and her minion, make your plan, woo the minions, and roll some fudge dice.

Game play is short, snappy, and a freaking bucket of chuckles.

The Project Ninja Panda Taco Kickstarter only has a few days left and is still $2k short of its goal, so I encourage you to take a few minutes and toss at least $10 into the pot (that $10 gets you the PDF of the game! When’s the last time you spent $10 to get a WHOLE GAME that you’ll be able to play over and over!).

Have any questions about the game that I can answer? I’d love to talk about it – especially if it means getting a few more dollars into the Kickstarter!
